Q:How long does it take to complete a typical artwork?
Answer: The time that any piece takes is wholly contingent upon what that piece is.
For example, wire wrapping a cabochon can take as little as two hours up to a week, depending on the complexity of the project. If the piece contains wire weaving, twisting, shaping, or soldering can take much longer.
With poured paintings, the time frame is a little different. The paint typically takes 24-72 hours to dry, depending on the thickness of the paint and the amount of paint on the surface. I normally allow 2 to 4 weeks before applying varnish; wait 24 hours between
coats, and then up to 7 days for the varnish to cure. It can be very deceptive.
You think a painting is completely done, only to find that a cardboard corner protector stuck or caused a goober when you removed it. Repair can be time-consuming.
complicated and/or impossible. Ugh.
Q:Do you offer art classes or workshops for aspiring artists?
Answer: Yes, I will happily do classes, whether private or for multiple students. Just-for-fun or more
formal. Anything can be arranged (within reason, of course!). All it takes is some
preparation and coordination. Classes or just-for-fun get-togethers are interactive, and normally, everyone goes home with something in hand. A get-together such as this
could be terrifically fun for everyone or be a unique gift for someone.
Q: What inspires your art?
Answer: I draw inspiration from the colorful world around me. Viewing galleries and other artists’ contributions always gets the creative juices flowing. Learning another new technique or way of doing something is exciting and inspiring. Even an interesting color combination can be visually intriguing. All that said, the biggest inspiration is
literally just letting yourself be creative! Finding a way to let your heart speak
Q:What materials and mediums do you work with?
Answer:I primarily work with acrylic paints on cotton canvas for pour painting. Although I’ve used glass vases, plastic trays, wooden forms and even baskets to pour paint on,
For jewelry, I normally work with wire and cabochons. The wire can be copper, brass, or sterling; cabochons, stones, or gems can be naturally sourced or manmade and come in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and costs. I also do a little metal work, which requires a seemingly endless array of tools, including soldering paraphernalia, saws, hammers, forms, cutters, and, of course, metal. Oh, and a couple pairs of really good
gloves.
Q:Can you explain the pricing of your artwork?
Answer: Pricing is determined by many factors, including the size, medium, costs of materials, labor, and market demand. Each piece is priced with all of these aspects in mind. I try very hard to keep my pieces affordable for everyone and make sure my creations are
worthy of the price. If something is not right, I’ll make every effort to make it so.
Q:Do you take commissions, and how can I request one?
Answer: Yes, I can and do take commissions. Gladly. Commissions can be as simple or as
complex as you want. Just contact me through the website!
Q:What's the most meaningful or memorable experience you've had as an artist?
Answer: To date, one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had was being asked by another artist to do an online collaboration. It was an honor that I am still giddy about. I’ve also received compliments from other professional artists, and I am very grateful that everyone admires any of my work.
Q:Do you participate in art exhibitions or shows?
Answer: Yes, I certainly try to get out there, and you can certainly check out my schedule of events. Since I am located in the Pacific Northwest, most of the events that I travel to are in the same general area.
